The Truth About Aromatherapy

Essential oils distillers and distributors are being scrutinized by USA and Canadian government agencies and regulatory bodies. During 2009, the FDA, FTC and Health Canada opened investigations against one distiller and three distributors of essential oils for making false claims and false advertising. These agencies will publish the results of their investigations when completed and the defendants have complied with government demands. This usually takes 18-24 months.

Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils

Proprietary research conducted by the Natural Therapies Research Board has determined two essential oil distributors do indeed market therapeutic grade essential oils. Four other distributors fell short of the mark. To their credit three of those companies are currently improving the quality of their products and say they will reapply. Ancient Wisdom Essential Oils (AWEO)

Leaders in the conflicr resolutions business estimate that 5% of all aromatherapy professionals in the USA and Canada ceased doing business during 2009 under an agreement with a licensing board to avoid prosecution.
